Why Reflection Time Matters
One of the things I love most about being a graphic recorder is that I get to hear new ideas and points of view. That was my good fortune recently at a senior leadership course that brought together the best minds from some of the world's biggest companies.
A top takeaway that resonated with all of them was the idea of taking time for reflection every day.
There are three key benefits of taking time to reflect:
You can visualize the future you want.
You make time to contemplate, synthesize and make sense of what you're working on.
It will make you a better storyteller and teacher (my personal favorite).
Taking an hour every day to do this is a hard concept for most of us to get our heads around, but you don't necessarily have to sit in quiet meditation to make reflection a habit. Here are a few ways to schedule this time into your daily calendar:
While having your early morning coffee.
During your workout.
Taking a walk with a colleague and processing your thoughts with them.
Whether you're a CEO, entrepreneur, employee, or stay at home parent, taking time for reflection each day will help you to position yourself for success.
