From Vision to Reality: Why Vision Mapping Works
Graphic Recording can have a lot of positive impacts. One of the most powerful is the ability to keep people focused on their goals while working on a long-term project.
A Vision Map can be your guide as you navigate through your process. It's tangible, visual and is right there in full sight keeping your team accountable and on course.
This process worked beautifully for the City of Roseville's Inspiration Garden.
In 2019, key stakeholders came together to brainstorm and dream big about what this garden could be. Not only the core idea of it as a teaching garden that would show residents how to be water wise with their own landscaping, but all of the physical elements they wanted it to have as well. Together we created a Vision Map that they could continue to refer back to as the garden construction unfolded.
And now in 2022, we celebrated the grand opening of the garden where I created a new mural commemorating the event. This 4'x8' mural includes highlights from the event, comments from speakers, and key facts about the garden itself.
We also had an interactive element using a cut-out tree for people to add stickies to with their ideas for how the garden inspired them.
I personally was inspired in 2019 as my husband and I were planning the landscaping for our new home. Here's a photo of our newly planted drought tolerant yard!
